In July, the Pentagon effectively banned the Confederate flag on U.S. bases and pledged to address diversity and increase inclusivity in the ranks of the military. Still, more than half of the troops of color who participated in a 2019 survey said that they had experienced white nationalism or racism in the U.S. military. Vladimir Duthiers spoke with some service members and veterans of different races, ranks, regions and religions about their experiences as troops of color.

For one Veteran, his life has revolved around the various 'suits' that he has worn. He recounts life from a small boy, through his time in the military, his getting himself into trouble resulting in incarceration, and his successful reintegration into the community upon release from incarceration. He notes that it was his military uniform—the 'suit'—that allowed him to be assisted by the Department of Veterans Affairs both while incarcerated and upon his release, highlighting the efforts on the part of VA to assist all incarcerated Veterans.

President Obama pledged to end homelessness among veterans in 2015 and the VA announced a plan for Los Angeles County.
Life was never the same for Zaneta Adams after a debilitating service-related injury. In her lowest moment, she considered giving up, but her children propelled her forward. Now an attorney and advocate for Veterans in Michigan, Adams opens up about her own struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and encourages fellow Veterans to reach out, ask for help, share the gift of hope, and give back. One way to do this, she found, is through VA’s Million Veteran Program.

June of 2019 we had the honor of bringing 16 #WWII #Veterans back to #Normandy for the #75th anniversary of #DDay. You can help more veterans return by donating to our foundation.
"Taking care of the ones who took care of us"
#DonnieEdwards is a former #NFL football player who has spent the last 22 years giving back to our military. He has done 9 #USO tours, visited many military bases and accompanied hundreds of WWII veterans and Vietnam veterans back to #battlefields
In April of 2006 Donnie Edwards brought WWII veterans back to their battlefields for the first time. Since that time he has accompanied hundreds of WWII veterans from the top of Mount Suribachi in Japan to the top of Eagles Nest in Germany. Donnie works tirelessly to fulfill the wishes and needs of our veterans and to give them the honor and respect they so readily deserve.
Your generosity will help to ensure the foundation is able to provide these experiences to veterans in the future.
The freedoms we enjoy today are in no small measure due to their sacrifices, let us repay them with gratitude and honor.
